SXSW: An Overview
If you follow me on any social media platform, you'll know I spent the past week down in Austin, TX for my very first South By Southwest. I'm daunted by the idea of recapping the experience because it was almost too major to put into words.
I first brought up the idea of covering South By back in November. Based on what I knew about how the festival had evolved, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to test out new work we're doing with live Twitter coverage - video specifically. Once I was approved to go, I began tackling the behemoth schedule—how could we possibly cover an event so gigantic in a way that made sense to our audience?
I'll spare you the details, but what came out of SXSW was a lot of experimental, creative, and (in my opinion) incredible social coverage. I worked with our Snapchat editor the entire week to recreate the energy and passion of being down in Austin during this week, and I'm incredibly proud of the content we created. We took an overwhelming experience and turned it into strong content, both for people who were on the ground in Texas and those viewing from back home.
You'll find more of my coverage on my Forbes blog and our Periscope account, but here are a few of my favorite moments:
Twitter Q&A with Chris Sacca
Sunrise photography walk with Nat Geo's Aaron Huey
Interview with La La Land's Justin Hurwitz
Content creating with my coworker Natasha (@natoish)
