'Now Reading...' Vol. 2

Back for a new round of my first-ever series on this blog! I haven't set an exact time frame for refreshing my current reads, except for when I finish up a few reads. On vacation earlier this month I passed off one read to my mom, and in turn came home with reads from my dad and grandma. See where I get it from? :) Without further ado... my current reading list:

Commute Read:

Dr. Jen Welter sat down with us to talk about her new book 'Play Big' and her time as a pro football running back playing against men. Play Big:  Lessons in Being Limitless from the First Woman to Coach in the NFL, by Jen Welter

Jen was a guest on my series Seat of Power last year, and made such an impression on me. Not only is she hilarious, friendly, and brilliant, but her story is exactly the inspiration we need right now. She's a master of firsts and a brave voice that I am excited to watch continue to shine.

Bedtime Read:

In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror and an American family in Hitler's Berlin, by Erik Larson

The name pretty much says it all: this is the stirring, true story of the American ambassador to Germany in the 1930's. I love historical reads, and this one is especially well-written. The details are incredible, making you really feel transported back in time to a world we can't comprehend now.

Long-Term Read:

Dreams from my Father, by Barack Obama

If you read my first post, you'll recognize that this book is still here—but has shifted spots from bedtime to long-term read. I'm enjoying it as much as before, but finding it a slower process than envisioned. It's also the perfect antidote to the devastation of the current administration, so I am fine keeping a slower pace.
